Jerry and Joy Picus

Jerry and Joy PicusDr. Jerry Picus and his wife, former Los Angeles City Councilwoman Joy Picus, met and married in Joy’s native Chicago.  Over the next twenty years, the couple raised their three children as the family moved from Chicago to Washington, D. C., to Southern California.

They have lived in the same house in Woodland Hills since moving to the San Fernando Valley over forty years ago.  The couple enjoys life in the San Fernando Valley because it provides a suburban experience while allowing residents to participate in the culture of a larger city.

"Culture is very important to both of us," states Joy.  "As Jerry often says, enjoying the culture of Los Angeles has become a habit for us."

Jerry and Joy count proximity to a wide range of cultural activities as just one benefit of their future home at Fountainview.  Joy’s council district included both campuses of the Los Angeles Jewish Home and she has a true affinity for the Home.

"We’ve been connected with the Home for many years, and Fountainview’s location in the Valley is so familiar to us," says Joy.  "We think it’s smart to look to the future and to make plans before we need them.  We know that eventually our house will become more of a burden than a pleasure, and the opportunity to eliminate homeowner details and worries is very appealing." The couple also states that they are appreciative of the fact that the entrance fee they pay at move-in is 90% refundable.  "And of course, I’m looking forward to the valet parking," smiles Joy.
