Sherman Root

Sherman RootSherman Root came to America from Poland at age 12 and settled in Illinois.  He later owned service stations and real estate in Chicago.  He served in the navy and army in World War II and Korea, and lived in Israel for eight years after the end of the second World War.  He and his wife met and married before moving to the San Fernando Valley in 1982.

Sherman currently resides in Tarzana, and appreciates the familiarity of life in the San Fernando Valley.  A 27-year resident, he likes the accessibility the Valley offers to Los Angeles and all of Southern California.

Still quite active, Sherman works four days a week as the maintenance department manager at a boys' home in Chatsworth.  He enjoys riding horses in Agoura, likes to travel to Las Vegas and plays cards when he can get a game.  Sherman appreciates the social atmosphere and interaction at the monthly Fountainview Charter Member luncheons as well.

Sherman first learned about Fountainview through a friend, and the more he heard, the more he became interested.  He intends to enjoy freedom from home ownership once he moves to Fountainview, and looks forward to doing what he wants to, rather than what he has to.

Playing cards, participating in activities and organized trips and making new friends are among the things Sherman is most eager to enjoy at Fountainview.  He plans to be so active and engaged that he may just have to quit his part-time job!
